How we define CA and Non-CA experience
Qualified CA pathway

“Fresher” means a newly qualified CA. Later bands are years of relevant experience after CA qualification. Pre-qualification articleship is not automatically added to post-qualification experience.

ICAI campus placements cover selected newly qualified CAs across multiple sectors—not just audit jobs.
Non-CA pathway

“Fresher” means a non-CA graduate / early-career entrant. Later bands are total relevant professional experience. CA Inter / Final candidates, ACCA, CIA, CISA and other specialists may require their own mandate-specific review.

Non-CA does not imply a less capable candidate; technical domain fit and permitted work scope must be assessed.

Important: These are Intris editorial planning scenarios grouped by specialty, not 47 independently surveyed salary distributions. CA and Non-CA figures must not be treated as a controlled estimate of a CA credential premium. Senior partner profit share and statutory signing authority are outside this comparison.

INDICATIVE ANNUAL CTC / PERSON

Aggregate figures are annual employee CTC scenarios, not invoices, placement fees, offers or guaranteed salaries.

INTRIS / SPECIALIST SEARCH

Two profiles. One clarified mandate.

Hiring is more precise when an employer defines deliverables, authority, credentials and experience together.

01
Specify accountability

Distinguish audit delivery, independent review, sign-off, advisory ownership and technology-heavy responsibilities.

02
Choose your qualification pathway

Specify CA eligibility only where the role warrants it; otherwise consider specialist skills, certifications and direct experience.

03
Calibrate compensation to scope

Compare current offers, company grade, city, fixed versus variable CTC and the profile’s relevant experience.

04
Validate before making an offer

Intris can review talent availability, benchmark salary expectations and coordinate the hiring process.

Partner, statutory signing auditor and independent EQCR reviewer are separate senior or regulated mandates. Do not infer eligibility from the 8+ years bracket.
04 / Evidence, definitions and responsible use

Methodology & responsible use.

Published market sources cover differing populations and pay definitions. This tool makes the qualification distinction explicit and does not present modeled numbers as observed market percentiles.

Benchmark evidence and 2026 methodology

Research checked 21 September 2026. Each of eight broad specialty profiles has separate CA and Non-CA planning ranges across five stages; a role inherits its named profile rather than being represented as independently surveyed. Ranges are editorial scenarios, not statistical confidence intervals, percentiles, guaranteed salaries or automatically updated market data.

Grade, employer, city, actual credentials, relevant experience, bonus, global-delivery exposure, mandate complexity, and signing or review responsibilities require an individual quote. No automatic geographic, CA-premium or inflation multipliers are applied.

Qualified CA versus Non-CA — what is counted?

Qualified CA: fresher means CA Final qualified with zero years of post-qualification experience (PQE); 1–2 and later brackets use relevant PQE. Previous articleship and other experience can influence offers, but are not silently counted as PQE. Non-CA: fresher means a graduate starting a professional role; subsequent bands count relevant paid work experience. CA Inter/Final but not qualified, CMA, ACCA, CPA, CIA, CISA, MBA and technology specialists can have very different market rates and require their own candidate-specific comparison.

Regulated audit work, EQCR and senior partner titles

For a company statutory audit, appointment and signing of the auditor’s report are governed by the Companies Act and applicable professional rules; the Non-CA pathway shown for statutory audit covers team support, not acting as an appointed auditor. See the Companies Act 2013, sections 141 and 145 ↗. EQCR / independent engagement quality review requires role-specific qualifications, experience and independence; a newly qualified CA is not automatically eligible. Partner, equity, profit-share and fee-bearing practice leadership are excluded from standardized employee CTC scenarios.

Understanding professional credentials and industry tags

Roles in IT audit, cyber, privacy, AML, ESG, valuation and transformation can be domain-first; CA is not the universal hiring gate. Industry tags show plausible employer markets, not verified vacancies or client relationships. Two tracks do not represent matched candidates; the difference between the ranges is not a causal estimate of the financial value of CA certification.
